Parker, Arizona Portrait Photography Session with Kaila

Portrait photography is kinda our thing. We truly enjoy photographing people and we’re proud to stand at the cutting edge of the industry, since 2010. We recently had the opportunity to photograph Kaila, a remarkable young woman doing big things among a sea of sharks in Los Angeles - which Leah and I are both super impressed by. Fortunately, she’s a Parker girl and comes home from time to time.

We had initially scheduled this session for the evening prior, but due to high winds and dust we all decided to give the next morning a try, and I’m glad we did!

We met at the house in Parker the next morning, loaded up our gear, and headed out to a location known as Bob’s Well. It was a little chili and breezy and there was cloud cover in the sky, but all of these elements, combined with the epic Sonoran Desert, made for very conducive conditions for capturing some epic portraits.

Kaila’s one of those people we love photograph because of her free sprit and naturally beautiful features. She may not admit to being photogenic, but she’s certainly one of the most photogenic humans we’ve ever photographed.

One of the things I pride myself on is our use of light. I prefer to use in-studio lighting techniques and various tools to shape and sculpt images, and this particular morning presented some unique ambient lighting conditions that were a lot of fun to work with, using the off-camera lighting we’ve become known for to create dramatic cinematic-style images.

If you’ve shot with us during one of our creative sessions, you already know there’s often cold beer involved… apparently, even at sunrise sessions. The term “breakfast beer” may have been mentioned more than once.

Wind in the desert shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, where do you think the sand dunes come from? With that said, wind is no fun to shoot in, but a slight breeze is another story. We love it when Mother Nature takes control of delicate features like hair, and Kaila effortlessly worked with the wind to help us create some stunning images.

If you’re interested in working together, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’d love to meet you.

We can be reached via one of the contact forms here on the website, through social media, phone calls, loud hollers, flashing lights, morse code, walkie talkies, and smoke signals.
